DISTANCE
FROM THE SEA: 7 MINUTES
Situated at the foot of the mediaeval town of Campiglia Marittima
(LI), Villa Denise is close by the other medieval towns
of Suvereto, Sassetta, Massa Marittima, Castagneto Carducci and
Bolgheri.
To the south are the lovely beaches of Perelli,
Carlappiano and della Sterpaia (part of the Park network of the
Val di Cornia) and the Gulf of Follonica, while to the north, there
is the Gulf of Baratti, Buca delle Fate and the
endless, uncontaminated beach of the Park of Rimigliano.
17 km. away in Piombino is the embarkation point by ferry or hydrofoil,
for the Island of Elba.
The Valle del Cornia is also famous for the beach resorts of San
Vincenzo and for the production of DOC wine
and extra virgin olive oil. The Wine Trail passes
through the area and the main boroughs are recognised by the ‘Città
Slow’ (The Italian Slow Food association), the Città del Vino (National
Association of Wine Towns in Italy) and the Città dell'Olio (National
Association of Olive Oil Towns in Italy).
The area is also recognised by Blue Flag Beaches
and Orange Flag, a recognition awarded by the Touring Club Italiano
for the quality of tourism and the environment, expressly for small
towns, which are often not well known, with less than 15.000 inhabitants,
not near the sea but with particular landscape, historical, wine-and-food
characteristics and traditions. |
